Validation Error
The validation error CMN.ATO.SMSFAR.436634 occurs when a fund contains a deceased member whose account status is still set to Open.
How to resolve this Validation Error
To resolve this error, you will need to complete one of the following options:
- Change the member’s Account Status to Closed in the SMSF Tax Return.
- Add an Account End Date to the deceased member’s account and reverse and create entries.
Option 1: Update the Member Status in the Tax Return
- Navigate to the SMSF Tax Return.
- Select Section F & G - Member Information.
- Select the deceased member.
- Change the Account status from Open to Closed.
- Then Select Save and Validate the Tax Return
Option 2: Add an End Date to the Member Account
- Navigate to the Member Dashboard screen.
- Navigate to the Member tab.
- Hover over the deceased member's account and select Edit.
- Select View & Edit.
- Enter the date when the member no longer had a balance in the Account End Date field.
- Select Save.
- Navigate to the Period Compliance screen and Select Reverse and Create Entries.
- Navigate to the SMSF Tax Return and validate the Tax Return again.
