Validation Error
This validation error occurs when the person or agent attempting to lodge the return is not authorised for the client in the ATO systems. In most cases, this means the Super Fund is not linked to the registered tax agent who is lodging the return.
This error can also appear if the lodgement is being attempted using an incorrect agent number, or if the client is not correctly associated with the agent in the ATO portal.
How to resolve this Validation Error
To resolve this error, review the following checks in the ATO portal:
- Confirm the client has been added under the correct registered tax agent who is lodging the return.
- Ensure the client is linked to the agent under the correct role.
- Verify you are using the correct agent number when lodging.
- Check that the ABN recorded in the annual return matches the ABN recorded in the ATO portal.
- Confirm that your ABN is correctly linked to your registered agent number. If this information is missing or incorrect, you will need to contact the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) to update your details.
