How to write off an Investment/Asset with $0 consideration

I would like to dispose of an Asset with $0 consideration, so essentially writing off the Asset. I need to make an unrealised loss become a realised loss. 

Solution

This needs to be entered as a journal entry. Please first navigate to the Transaction List, select New Transaction and select Journal. 

You will need to enter the following
Credit - $0, 1 unit, for the Asset/Investment you are trying to dispose of. 
Debit - $0, to the same Asset/Investment account.

This will trigger an automated realised loss disposing of the asset at $0 consideration.
