Tax Time 2026 - 2026 SMSF Annual Return
We're excited to announce that Simple Fund 360 has added the 2026 SMSF Annual Return and associated tax changes. Here's what's included in this release:The 2026 SMSF Annual Return user interface and PDF are now available.
Wind-ups processed for the 2026 financial year will now generate and lodge the 2026 Annual Return. If you have already Created Entries up to the Wind Up date, you must reverse and create entries again to take effect.
2027 wind-ups- Funds winding up in the 2027 financial year will now generate the correct 2026 tax return PDF and XBRL target year, ensuring wind-up processing and lodgement works correctly from 1 July 2026.
Digital signing is enabled for the 2026 return and related schedules.
The 2026 SMSF Annual Return removes Section D Label E4 (Exploration Credits) from Create Entries posting logic, and the Tax Adjustment Screen.
2026 Fact Finder Report. The Fact Finder has been updated to reflect the 1 July 2026 contribution cap changes ($32,500 concessional, $130,000 non-concessional, $390,000 bring-forward) and now includes a Division 296 warning for members with a TSB over $3 million as at 30 June 2027.
The PAYG Estimation Report has been updated to include the GDP uplift factor for 2027.
Audit Workpapers - the compliance checklist and working papers have been updated.
Fund transfer process has been updated to export 2026 Returns
The Xero Tax Return and LodgeIT export files have been updated to 2026.
2026 Company Return & Schedule Changes - Simple Invest 360 now supports the 2026 Company Tax Return for the 2025–26 income year, and all associated schedules (CGT, Losses, Dividend & Interest) have been updated for 2026.
2026 Trust Tax Return Changes - Simple Invest 360 now supports the 2026 Trust Tax Return for the 2025–26 income year, including three new Statement of Distribution fields (Franked distribution related to investments U2, Other assessable FSI from a financial investment H1, and Non-PP MIS amount B1), updated Period Compliance workflow, new PDFs, and UI changes aligned to ATO 2026 requirements.
Division 296 Reports - Simple Fund 360 now generates the Cost Base Analysis Report and CGT Reset Election Letter, Minute, and Resolution required for Division 296 planning, giving accountants the documents needed to advise clients on their CGT reset options.
BGL Bank Data Feed Cancellation - A new self-service bank feed cancellation feature has been introduced, allowing users to select and submit account cancellation requests directly from the Feed Management screen, eliminating the need for manual forms and email submissions.

Payday Super - Simple Fund 360 now supports the new Payday Super requirements (integration with SuperStream Contribution 3.0) effective 1 July 2026, including:
Member Verification Request (MVR) - Employers can verify member eligibility before sending contributions. The system auto-responds within 24 hours and maintains a complete audit trail of all verification requests.
Payday Super Contributions Dashboard - Completely redesigned dashboard for real-time contribution tracking. Filter by 'Received' or 'Rejected' status, with a streamlined interface for faster monitoring and reconciliation.
Contribution Rejection Workflow - Reject contribution messages with refund processing workflow and error notifications returned to employers.
Documents – AI suggestions for document categorisation, naming, type, and folder assignment, with entity name matching to validate correct document placement

Consolidated Reporting - Several improvements have been made to the Consolidated Report layout and template experience:
- The Edit Layout screen now shows the related Control Account Code alongside account names.
- A new ‘Set as Default’ option pins a preferred template to the top of the template list, and a Base (No Customisation) template replaces the previous Revert button.
- The Consolidated Operating Statement now includes a Transfer to Reserves section after Net Operating Profit.
- Corporate Actions - 3 new mergers have been added for June 2026.
- BGL Bank Data Service - Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) bank feeds now support enhanced transaction narration, providing more detailed and improved transaction descriptions.
- Wrap Data Feeds - Ausiex wrap data feeds have been updated to include cash and investment movements, including both domestic and international movements, providing more comprehensive data coverage.
- Fund Relationships - A direct link from the Fund Relationships screen to the Member Dashboard has been added, allowing users to efficiently and easily navigate directly to the Members Dashboard.
- Distribution Transactions - The 'Exploration Credits Distributed' field is now disabled for transactions posting to 23800 and the Distribution Tax Automation screen from the FY2026 onwards, reflecting the ATO's removal of this field from the Trust Income Schedule.
- Transfer Balance Cap Indexation - Simple Fund 360 has been updated to reflect the Transfer Balance Cap indexation to $2.1 million effective 1 July 2026, ensuring all TBC calculations, cap space reporting, and contribution validations automatically apply the new threshold from the new financial year.
- AI Assistants - AI Assistants can now retrieve additional member account information, including death benefit nominations and reversionary pension details.

Consolidated Reporting - Several fixes have been made to the Consolidated Report layout and display:
- Investment Report column headers (Income and Market Gain) no longer truncate when generating a PDF.
- Editing the Investment Losses section heading in Edit Layout no longer causes the section to appear twice in the Operating Statement.
- The Edit Layout screen now correctly shows accounts attributed to their own entity after a consolidation is reverted.
- Data Feeds - Swyftx - Fixed an issue where fees paid in cryptocurrency are now correctly capitalised to the cost base rather than treated as a separate disposal.
- Data Feeds - WealthO2 - Fixed an issue where foreign currency transactions were being converted incorrectly.
- Transaction screen - Fixed an issue in the Model Editor where not all folders were being appended when attaching a transaction to a document. Normal folders are now correctly included.
- Client Query - Fixed an issue where generating a link with a recipient selected would trigger an email to be sent.
- Insights Dashboard - Fixed an issue where the Total Super Balance filter and Excel export would exclude pension balances when the accumulation account had an end date.
