Overview
Term deposits can be added to the Chart of Accounts under account 60800 (Term Deposits), 72400 (Fixed Interest Securities - Australian) for non-unitised term deposits or under account 72450 (Fixed Interest Securities - Australian) for unitised term deposits.
What's the difference?
A unitised investment contains at least one unit when being recorded in the ledger. Non-unitised investments do not include any units when being recorded.
Overseas term deposits can be added to accounts 72500 (Fixed Interest Securities Overseas) or 72550 (Fixed Interest Securities Overseas - Unitised).
Important: If you are using the BGL Bank Data Service for term deposits, use account 60800. Refer to Bank Accounts for instructions on how to add a term deposit under 60800.
