A very small number of units (for example, 0.000002) can remain on an investment that should be fully disposed. This stops the investment from being sold in full, or leaves it showing after the sale.
What you will see
One or both of the following:
- When recording the disposal, Simple Fund 360 won't let you sell the full holding. For example, the fund holds 12,977 units but only 12,976.999998 can be sold.
- After a full disposal, a residual unit balance still shows for the investment in Account View or Workpapers, even though the CGT Register shows it as fully disposed.
Why this happens
The residual is usually a unit discrepancy carried over from a merger corporate action. It most often affects funds migrated to Simple Fund 360 from another product.
How to fix it
This can't be fixed with a journal
The units need to be corrected by BGL Support. Don't post adjusting journals to clear the residual units.
- Share the fund with BGL Support. See How to invite BGL Support to a fund.
- Log a support call and include:
- the fund name
- the investment account and code (for example, 77600/ABC)
- the number of residual units
- where the residual shows (disposal screen, Account View or Workpapers)
Once BGL Support confirms the units have been corrected, refresh the screen. If the investment wasn't yet sold, record the disposal for the full holding.
Residual dollars instead of units?
If a fully disposed investment shows 0 units but still carries a small dollar balance, see Disposed investments carrying a balance.
