ESA Registration error
Hi, We just had a SMSF client transferred from another accountant. The client contact us a few days ago, because the member's employer can't make employer contribution since the ESA is no longer valid, so I started to register the SMSF under BGL360, but got this error message:
- The supplied ABN is already registered to an account on Simple Fund 360. Please cancel registration in order to re-register. You may need to contact previous accountant for cancellation if the fund moved accountant recently.
However, the previous accountant is using Class Super and the ESA of the SMSF was SMSFDATAFLOW. They also confirmed that the client's account was already cancelled.
Could you please help to check why there is this error and what we can do?

Thank you for getting in contact with us today.
The cause of the error message occurs is when attempting to register with BGL's ESA, it is due to Simple Fund 360's careful handling of SMSFs that were previously registered with a different ESA. This measure is designed to prevent unauthorized parties from registering an SMSF with a different ESA when it is not appropriate.
Thankfully, there is an easy solution to this issue.
Firstly, please Log a Support Call.
In the decription box of the support call, can you enter a screenshot from the Tax Agent Portal showing the Fund ABN and Fund Name with the time stamp, with sensitive information such as TFN and Personal Names removed /hidden we can cancel the registration for you.
This confirms that you are the authorised party to register the SMSF with the ESA.
